MONDAY MUSINGS

I spent the week trying to recover from the flu.
My hubby had a business trip to Santa Fe and I had planned on going with him.
It's one of my favorite trips.
I knew I was too sick to go, but my hubby convinced me that the fresh mountain air would be good for me, so I pulled myself out of bed and packed.

On the way to the room in the hotel, I stumbled down the long hallway and thought I was going to pass out. But I made it, collapsed onto the bed, and basically didn't get up for two days. As a matter of fact, I never once even left the hotel room. My hubby bought me food and I attempted to eat, but that didn't go over too well.

During the day, I kept the window open. I had a beautiful view of Santa Fe with the mountains in the background. The fresh mountain air did indeed feel good.

In my mind, I romanticized the situation and told myself I was so sick that I was being spirited away into the mountains to recover. My daughter is a Victorian novel fan and she said it was like being sent away to the seaside to recover--doctor's orders.

BTW, I went to the doctor for a steroid shot. He didn't mention the need for fresh mountain air.

Bummer. Where are the doctors that prescribe such a thing? I need one. Better yet, wouldn't it be nice if insurance covered a "get well" trip?

At any rate, I had my dose of fresh mountain air, and it did do me a world of good. I am much better, but so weak.

First order of business this week--get my health back. I'm going to eat well and try to get a little exercise everyday.

Second, try to get my books selling again.
My book sales have NOT been good lately. Actually, sales haven't been good for a long time. My books just haven't taken off like I hoped they would.

It really gets me down sometimes. It gets into my head and I feel like my books must NOT be good or else they would sell.

Even as those negative thoughts wander through my head, I busily type away at the computer on my next book--that also won't sell.

Sometimes I wonder why I'm putting so much time and effort into an endeavor that appears to be fruitless.

But I can't stop myself. I love writing.

And so I push forward. Giving up is not an option.

No more feeling sorry for myself.

Sigh.

On a lighter note, I read a really good book this week. It kept my mind off enduring the flu--and everything else.

Pimpernel

Seriously good book. I promise, you won't be able to put it down! Give it a try!

Have a great week everyone!

I have to admit, I have become addicted to writing!

MONDAY MUSINGS

I feel as though a tornado has hit me lately--and left behind devastation.
On top of everything I told you about last week, this week proved to be even more eventful.
I came down with the flu.

Image courtesy of [cuteimage] / FreeDigitalPhotos.net

Ugh. Maybe that makes my week uneventful since all I did all week was lay around in bed and moan.

Of course, while I was laying around, I read Chasing Fireflies on my kindle (again) for the last time.

And by the way, it is officially FINISHED!

Image courtesy of [Stuart Miles] / FreeDigitalPhotos.net

I know, it's been finished for a while now, but the beta reading, the edits, the ebook formatting, and reading it through over and over again while looking for mistakes and polishing it has been a long process.

I'm happy with it and ready to release it on July 1st. It will go up for pre-order in April and I will soon be offering ARCs.

Being sick also granted me the time to read an ARC of the next book in the Power of the Matchmaker series, LOVE IS COME.

Love is Come (Power of the Matchmaker)

I LOVED this book. I don't often read Victorian novels. Many years ago, I went through a phase wherein I read every single book Victoria Holt has ever written and I LOVED every single one. This book reminded me that I do indeed LOVE Victorian novels. They're so prim and proper. It's interesting to read about a world where it's scandalous to be alone with a man and if you are with a man, you need a chaperone. The people from that day and age would be shocked by the world today. I greatly enjoyed this book and realized I really need to read more books from this genre. This was a refreshing read and the story held me captive from beginning to end. I especially loved the way the story wrapped up with everyone receiving their happy ending. There were times when I couldn't see how it would all end well without bitter feelings, but it did, and beautifully and realistically at that.  Very well done.

While I didn't get any writing done this week, I'm now 40,000 words into my brand new book, STONE SILENCE, and I can't wait to show you the cover when it's complete! I've tentatively decided it's going to be a series of three books called the SOUND OF SILENCE series. The second book will be called JAILBIRD, and the third book, HOTHOUSE FLOWER. At least, that's the plan for now. We'll see how it evolves as I continue to write. I'm not sure yet if they will be novels or novellas, but I'm super excited about this new project. I'm taking hold of this idea and running with it!

In honor of my new SOUND OF SILENCE series, please enjoy this remake of the song by the same name. I'm not crazy about the piercings on the lead singer, but I love the song. I love the way the song is so soft in the beginning and then crescendos with so much emotion. It inspires me because of the raw emotion.

Have a great week everyone! And don't get the flu!

MONDAY MUSINGS

This has been an eventful week.

First of all, I proofed my ebook of Chasing Fireflies by reading it on my Kindle.

I'm having a few changes made, but other than a few small corrections, it passed GO and collected 200.00 dollars!

My toenail on my right foot decided to misbehave which resulted in me having a really fun procedure done.

I've had to sit around with my foot elevated just to keep it from throbbing. Not fun.

My daughter, her husband, and my grandson moved in with us for a short time as they make a change in their career path. We've had a house full of boxes as we organize and make room for them.

I know, darn. My grandson is living with me right now.

How can I resist that face?

I'm enjoying every minute and having way too much fun with him. I'm also hoping they settle right here in the same town as us.
I have a full house once again!
An empty nest and a quiet house make me sad.

And to top it all off, I turned 53 this week.

Yikes, I'm getting old.

Somehow, I made it through the week.

How was your week?

Enter his new roommate Jordan—a quirky LA girl who believes that everything in life has already been done in the movies. In this heartfelt tale of friendship, family, life, and love, Nate learns how to deal with his new adult life using Hollywood films as a guide.

***This book is part of a multi-author project that features one recurring character—the match maker—but it is a STAND-ALONE novel.***

Teaser #1

“So this is what a Pearl-approved guy looks like.” She shook her head once and cracked a smile. “She’s got good taste, I’ll give her that. You’re an odd mix of sexy and adorable. Don’t see that often.”
I was a little taken aback by the compliment, if that’s even what it was. She may have just been stating what she considered to be fact. She laughed at my surprise and held out her hand to me. “Nice to meet you. I’m Jordan Kramer.”
I’d been afraid of that. “You’re a girl.”
Jordan laughed. “That’s what it says on my birth certificate, but I’m really glad you were able to figure it out without needing to read it.”

Nope. I definitely didn’t need that.

Teaser #2

I handed Jordan the electric guitar that I’ve had since I was twelve, and laughed when her eyes got really big. “You play the electric guitar, too?”
“Music major,” I teased, picking up my keyboard. “I play this, too. A little. And the bass guitar.”
“Awesome.” She examined the electric guitar with awe.
“Why do you seem so surprised?”
She looked at me as if the answer to that question should be obvious. “Hello. Have you met yourself? You with an acoustic guitar singing soft songs around a campfire or in a coffee house makes perfect sense. But I can’t picture you up on a stage, jamming on your electric guitar like a rock star.” She studied me a moment, then shook her head. “You’ll have to play for me, or I’m not going to believe it.”

What readers are saying about If We Were a Movie:

"WOW! This book is great! The concept is so inventive, and the writing is brilliant."

"I thought Cinder & Ella jerked with my emotions too much but this one might have
it beat."

"I finished reading If We Were a Movie yesterday. I loved it! I fell hard for Nate. Jordan was amazing! And Pearl's timing was perfect! "

"Amazing concept with movies as chapters, and fantastic storyline."

"I loved this story and was humming along to the songs from the book whilst reading. I can see this book becoming the movie it was written to be."

"If We Were a Movie made me want to binge watch movies, listen to old playlists, and re-read it all at once."

My Review: I loved so many things about this book. I loved the pacing, I loved the smart writing, and I especially loved all of the movie references. I loved the hero of the story, Nate. He was an all around good guy and it showed in all of his life decisions. I also loved that the story is told through his POV. A great book that I had a hard time putting down!

Now you can check out what all the hype is about! Woot! Happy Reading!!
