We spent our Fourth of July holiday in Arizona visiting my daughter, and also my sister. It was blazing HOT and kinda like going on vacation to the SUN! I love hot weather, but this was too hot for me. There were a few moments where I thought I was going to die. Seriously.
We arrived home very late on Monday night, hence the lateness of this post.
After two back to back trips, one to see my daughter in Idaho who had just had a baby--and then a week and a half later, another trip to Arizona to see my other daughter, I'm exhausted and ready to be home! I didn't even unpack between trips. Now I need a vacation from vacations!
Here are a few pics!
Fireworks on the Fourth:
(We got to put off fireworks in my sister's driveway--just like when I was a kid. It's been years since I've done this!)
Visiting after all of the festivities on the Fourth:
(Translation: it's stinking hot outside, even at ten at night, and we're all sapped of energy!)
My daughter's adorable studio apartment:
(Yes, we stayed with her--and yes, it was crowded--and yes, it was fun.)
Out to lunch with my daughter and hubby:
(Secretly, we were hiding from the outside inferno.)
View of the cactus while driving home:
(Do you kinda feel like you're being flipped off?)
The view from the car only only one hour later:
(Can't get over the change in landscape!)
And moving on to book news . . . the free promotion of For Nick was a huge success!
I received 2609 downloads! What better way to get your book into the hands of readers! And I'm thrilled with the reviews thus far!
Thanks to all who helped me spread the news about the free promotion.
Sounds like you had a great weekend! It has been so humid and hot here in Ohio! You walk outside and melt! I am so thankful for my A/C! I love her little apartment!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I'd survive summer without A/C! In Arizona, I don't think anyone would. Thanks for your comment, Christy. We did have a wonderful trip, but it's good to be home again.
DeleteHa ha! I will never look at cactus the same way (flipping me off). Glad you had fun. I bet Arizona was hot, because it was hot in Boise last week (my van said 118 at one point--although that wasn't official temps). When I lived in Vegas, the car temps were always at least 10 degrees hotter than the official temperature, so yikes! Glad you survived.
ReplyDeleteNow I'm in my air conditioned home and wearing a sweater! That's how I enjoy summer! Occasionally I go sit in the sun and bask for a while, then retreat back inside to the A/C. I'm such a wimp. For some reason, I enjoy the dry Vegas heat though. At least every time I've visited I have.
DeleteWhen I mentioned my take on what a cactus looks like to my sister, she said that it's a common saying in Arizona. Didn't know that, but I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who thought of it! Good to hear from you, Charissa!
Beautiful pictures Taylor. I love I mean LOVE cactus. My foster mom brought me a cactus back from Arizona on one of their trips and I still have it. It is the flat kind that has blooms that only last one day. It is huge now and one of the few things I have from her that I treasure. I lost her almost 9 yrs ago and miss her so much. Anyway love the pics and your daughter is beautiful. I am so glad you had a good time, except for the heat. We are having storms here. I am so tired of the rain. Been raining for several days, almost a week... I need sun.. lol Thanks for sharing.. Love ya sweet friend.. :)
ReplyDeleteThe cactus are quite fascinating. I'm glad you have that memory of your foster mom. My sister has cactus in her front yard and they also have huge flowers that bloom in the morning, then die. Such an amazing plant!
DeleteI need sun too, just not blazing hot sun! Hope your weather clears up quickly! Thanks for your comment, Linda! Hope you're doing well.
