FRIDAY FAVORITES

Friday Favorites include my favorite images on reading or writing!

 Enjoy!

I would have to say:

ISLAND OF THE BLUE DOLPHINS

It holds my earliest memory of being "hooked" on a book.

  1. I grew up in Australia and I remember my love of reading began with the Secret Seven Series by Enid Blyton. I cannot even imagine a life without books.

    1. Sounds good, Rita. I haven't heard of that one. I would definitely be sad without books in my life!
Wow, so cool that you grew up in Australia! It sounds like an amazing place!

  2. I loved so many books when I was little. I remember reading these books about a little witch named Dorrie (I think) when I was probably 6. Then as I got to 2nd grade or so, I started with the Little House books, All of a Kind Family books, Baby Island....then the summer before 5th grade I got mono and read Anne of Green Gables. It's so funny how we book lovers can remember our early book loves :)

    1. So true, Christy. Books stick with us.
I guess my earliest, earliest memory of loving a book would have to be Caps For Sale. I remember my mother reading it to me. I love children's books. Some of them are so, so clever. Someday I'd like to write a few children's books. It's on my bucket list!

  3. I can't even remember the name of the book. I've googled it but got no results and wish I knew what happened to it. It was a children's book about a baby hippo and I can see the illustrations just as clearly now as I did so many years ago. The story was so fun and sweet.

    1. That's a great memory, Laura. I still have an attic full of bins with children's books from my childhood and my children's childhoods. I'm saving them to give to my grandkids. First batch will make their way to my daughter's home this summer!! They certainly show a little wear and tear, but they are special to all of us!

  4. I couldn't begin to remember what my first love in books was. I just know I have always been a reader. That's cool that you kept all the books and will pass them on. I hope the munchkins enjoy them as much as you did. :-)
