BUSY, BUSY BUSY!!

Been busy working on my new novel,
GIRL OF MINE
Wordcount: 18,000
AND every day I listen to a new chapter of the audiobook of SIERRA, request edits, then re-listen.
AND I'm working on getting I HAVE PEOPLE, FOR NICK, AND JOSHUA'S FOLLY up with their new covers. If I'm going to make changes to the ebooks by adding new covers, and updating the ads at the end of the books, I may as well give each book a light edit while I'm at it. Right? If I need to make any editorial changes NOW is the time to do it. It's kind of fun to re-read my books and remember why I wrote them in the first place. But it does make the process of changing the covers a slow one.
AND I'm thinking about submitting a story to Chicken Soup for the Soul.
BUT, all I want to do is:
WRITE MY NEW BOOK!
I'm seriously obsessed.
And happy.
And loving every minute of creating a new book.
I keep "inspiration" pictures up on my second computer screen as I write.

I chose this as the vacation home that belongs to the hero of the story. It's just outside of Dallas, Texas. I wanted a Ranch House, but I didn't want to go with a cabin style house because I've already written about a cabin in Sierra.
This tree-house plays a role in the story.
This is the actual tree-house my dad BUILT in his backyard!!!
It's amazing and I'm excited to include it in one of my stories.
(My dad will be tickled!)
So, that's my busy life.
I always say I'd rather be busy than bored.
All my life, I've been a stay-at-home Mom.
When my children grew up and left the nest, I thought, "What do I do now?" I felt like my life had left me.
Then I started writing books, something I'd always wanted to do.
And, voila, I had a new life, a new purpose.
Being a mom and grandma still keeps me busy--and is still my number one priority in life.
But, writing books is my secret passion, something that keeps me happy when I can't be with my children and grandchildren.
What's your passion?
My inspiration pic for the hero of my story, Lucas Graham.
(Yes, this is Marcus from Bachelorette!! Those blue eyes . . .)

WOW. A fantastic post, Taylor. I want to come and have a cocktail in the tree house. That is so AWESOME. Wait a minute, I gotta go back and look again.....That is so cool. A beautiful house and a beautiful man, I can see why you want to get back to your book. LOL Happy reading...and writing.
ReplyDeleteI love the tree house too. My dad always promised he'd build us a playhouse, but he never had time. Now he's retired and built this tree house just in time for his grandchildren. He says it makes up for the playhouse and I agree! It is even more amazing in person. His grandchildren have had several sleep overs on it. And occasionally they allow friends to have wedding receptions on their property and the bride throws her bouquet from it!
DeleteBTW, I tried to comment twice on your blog today and it wouldn't let me. Is anyone else having problems or is it just me?
Thanks for your comment, Sherry!
Sleepovers, so cool. No, you are not the only one. The last updates I did caused some glitch. My computer guy said he would look at it. Who knows. This comment and email stuff totally frustrates me. lol I don't think anything can be done about the email stuff - so many others seem to be having problems too, but I think the commenting thing can be fixed (my fingers are crossed). Have a great day!
DeleteAgreed. It is so very frustrating when things don't work as they should. I was finally able to leave a comment last night though. Sorry about the glitch. But I loved the post about the boat racing. I live vicariously through you!!
DeleteHappy to have you along. LOL
DeleteI second Sherry! What a wonderful post and I love the tree house. Is it still there?
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to what you are cooking up next! Write, woman, write! LOL
Oh yes, the tree house is still there. My dad built it about five years ago. The house behind the tree house is their home. It's not the home I grew up in, it's their amazing home they bought to retire in!! I've spent several summer vacations there and it's a beautiful property. My dad's hobby is landscaping and he'd turned the property into a paradise. It's in Oregon and it is very green!
DeleteI'm writing away and I hope this story will be as good as I think it will be! It's coming along nicely.
Thanks, Laura!
Oops. Sorry, I meant he's turned the property into a paradise, not he'd.
DeleteWriting is a fun passion, isn't it? Glad you're having fun. I love how busy you stay. My writing has been on hold as I have vacationed up to Washington and tried to keep up with my fruit trees when I'm home. My garage is full of peaches sitting out on tables waiting to ripen a few more days. If I left them on the trees until they're perfectly ripe, the birds take nibbles (or whole gobblefulls) of them. I'm getting to where I hate certain birds (namely all the ones in my backyard eating my fruit). Keep on writing that new book. It sounds great. I love the hero!
ReplyDeleteLucky you! I wish I had peach trees to worry over! I don't live in an area of the country where that kind of thing grows readily. (can you tell I often dream of moving?) I do love where I live, but I miss beauty. I do enjoy safety, not much traffic, wonderful people--but not fruit trees. Sigh. I need to be happy with what I do have!!
DeleteLooking forward to book three of your series! Now that summer's almost over, maybe you'll have more time to write!
