MONDAY MUSINGS

I spent the last week painting my dining room, living room, and one hallway. This week we will tackle the second hallway and the kitchen. I love the way a new coat of paint makes the house smell! So fresh!
My son is home from college for a few weeks and he helped me every step of the way.
I've probably ruined any chance he'll ever come home for vacation again! He's been working hard!
Alone, the job is drudgery. Together, it has been fun!

In case you haven't guessed, my favorite color is BLUE!

Not much to tell in the way of book news this week.
But, new covers for Joshua's Folly, For Nick, and I Have People are in the works! Watch for them!

Have a wonderful Memorial Day!

On this day, I am especially thankful that my hubby returned home safely from Iraq.

May we always remember the men and women who did not return.

COVER REVEAL~COVER REVEAL~COVER REVEAL~COVER REVEAL~COVER REVEAL~COVER REVEAL

COVER REVEAL!
Brand new covers for Lancaster House and The Middle Aisle!
~A paranormal romance series by Taylor Dean~

In honor of the new covers:
99 cents for Thursday and Friday!
1.99 for Saturday and Sunday!

I love my OLD covers. (Pictured on the left.) I really do. They're different from the norm and that's why they captured my attention.

For Lancaster House, I liked the idea of a hand reaching out from the grave. It seemed appropriate to the story; Andre reaches out to Zoe from beyond the grave. It was Carrie-like and kind of creepy.

There's just one problem.

This is not a horror novel. Not at all. This is a paranormal romance. People who like horror are drawn to the cover and are sadly disappointed when they realize it's a romance.

People who love paranormal romance are turned off by the cover because it looks too creepy.

In other words, the cover just wasn't working.

I love The Middle Aisle cover because it matched Lancaster House so perfectly. And part of the story takes place in Monterey, California. Monterey is known for its Cypress trees. The tree on the cover of The Middle Aisle reminded me of a Cypress tree and seemed perfect.

But, if the right people aren't reading the first book, no one will ever read the second one no matter what the cover looks like!

Bam! Decision made!

It was time for new covers for Lancaster House and The Middle Aisle! I love the new covers because they speak so perfectly as to what's on the inside.

Without further ado, here they are, the new covers!

MONDAY MUSINGS

On Mother's Day I woke up to this beautiful comment from a reader about I'm With You:

Finished reading your beautiful book, I'M With You. My prayers go out to your daughter and her husband and to the rest of the family for the loss of Jerad. Thank you for letting us share your daughters story about her precious baby boy.

It seemed so very appropriate for Mother's Day--and it made my day a special one.

Hope each of you had a wonderful Mother's Day.

Book news:

This week is the official Cover Reveal for the new covers for Lancaster House and The Middle Aisle!

One of my daughters admitted to me tonight that she still LOVES my old covers. That makes me happy, but I absolutely LOVE the new covers.

Here's a sneak peek at the brand new BACK covers:

With how much I love the new covers for Lancaster House and The Middle Aisle, we've officially decided to give all of my covers a makeover. If you follow my blog, you know I've agonized over this decision. I love the illustrated covers I chose in the beginning, but I feel they don't reflect what's on the inside of the books.
So . . . here's what we've chosen for the new cover of Sierra.
Yes, I'm going to go ahead and reveal it now!
(It won't be up for awhile. It has to go off to the ebook formatter first--and we may still make a few changes here and there. It's a work in progress.)
But, I'd like to know what you think? Do you like it?

I'M WITH YOU BOOK BLAST

I'm With You Book Blast starts today!

I'm with youI’m With You
Can three little words irrevocably change your life?
When the doctors inform Chloe Brennan that her pregnancy is “incompatible with life,” her subsequent choices will change her path forever.
She becomes one of the quiet, unsung heroes of this world, incredibly strong, yet somehow wrongly looked upon as damaged.
Three people will pierce Chloe’s existence: her husband, a stranger, and a precious baby.
One will say goodbye, one will say hello, and one will say both at the same time.
I’m With You is a novel about selfless love and the sacredness of life.
Please note: While this book is a romance novel, it also deals with the sensitive issue of baby loss grief.
The emotions are real, and sometimes dark.
If you are sensitive to this issue, this may not be the book for you.
Praise for I’M WITH YOU:
Taylor Dean creates a beautiful story of loss, grief, and love.

~Jana (Book Reviewer)

Chloe’s story of grief, growth and healing is poignant and had me wanting to shed tears one moment, and then smiling as hope took root and bloomed in her heart.

~Charissa of Joy in the Moments

It’s amazing how these tragic moments in our lives shape our futures, and this wonderful grandson of Ms. Dean’s gave her the strength, courage and words to let others know about grief as well as Trisomy 18.
~Katherine (Book Reviewer)
Excerpt from I’m With You:

Jack turned and looked at her, his eyes wet with tears. “I’m sorry you had to go through it alone.”
“If I could have, maybe I would’ve left too. I didn’t have that option. I don’t blame Mark, I really don’t. Who wouldn’t want to escape? It was a horrific experience.”
“I don’t think it was,” Jack stated quietly.
Startled by his words, Chloe said, “Excuse me?”
“I don’t believe you.”
Chloe felt surprised by his perceptiveness. Her breath caught in her throat as she said, “You’re right. Losing him was horrific. But the experience was one of the most precious times of my life. I’ve never felt so full of love for another individual. It consumed me. I loved him with an intensity I’ve never felt before. He’s the greatest blessing I’ve ever received in my life and I don’t regret a single moment. Maybe I never actually heard him speak, but he said more to me in his short life than anyone has ever said to me in my lifetime. He spoke to my heart in ways that are unfathomable.  He changed me and left an imprint on my life that I will never forget. He taught me the true meaning of love and what it’s like to love someone else more than yourself.”
Jack shook his head, fighting emotion. “I can see that, I can feel that. This room is a testament to that love. I can feel your overwhelming love for your child just by glancing in here. That’s how strong it is.”
“Not everyone would agree with you. Mark hates this room. It represents loss to him.”
Jack took a step closer, his eyes blazing. “It represents love, completely unselfish love that few people in this world will ever understand or experience. I’m amazed by you, Chloe.”

A word about I’m With You:
Baby loss is a difficult subject. The accompanying grief is complicated and heartbreaking.
In December of 2011, my daughter lost a baby at eight months gestation to Trisomy 18. If you don’t know what that is, I didn’t either, until it happened to us. (You will learn all about this devastating condition during the course of the book.) I’m With You is a romance novel that includes my daughter’s Trisomy 18 story. I knew I wanted to write about the experience one day, but it took me awhile to emotionally prepare myself to actually do it. It has been highly therapeutic. My daughter granted me permission to share her Trisomy 18 story with the hope that it will help others who are dealing with baby loss grief.
There is a song written for and dedicated to the families of Trisomy 18 and 13 babies. It is beautiful and deeply expresses the love parents feel for these special babies.

MONDAY MUSINGS

INCOGNITO

The definition of INCOGNITO is:

Adj: without being known; in disguise; in an assumed character, or under an assumed title.

Adverb: Without revealing one's identity.

Noun:
One unknown or in disguise, or under an assumed character or name.
The assumption of disguise or of a feigned character; the state of being in disguise or not recognized.

HOWEVER, here is how my daughter uses the word INCOGNITO:

My jacket is INCOGNITO right now. Do you know where it is?
OR
Who took my book? It is INCOGNITO and I can't find it!

You get the idea. Cracks me up every time.

With that being said, I have been INCOGNITO lately because I have been babysitting for my eight month old grandson for an entire week! He is adorable and I have loved every minute, but I can't get anything else done. My time on the computer has been few and far between. So I apologize for being INCOGNITO!

Seriously, could you resist that face? (just ignore the drool!)

Book news: The book blast for I'M WITH YOU starts tomorrow and I'm excited to spread the news about my newest novel.

Have a great Monday!
