THE BOOK TRAILER for GIRL OF MINE

(Only available here!!)

ENJOY!

I will be announcing a release date soon.

Perhaps you'd be interested to hear about the process the book will go through before it's ready to be published.

First, my hubby will be the very first person in the world to read the book.
(He's reading it this week.)
He gives me advice, suggestions, and edits.
Then I edit, revise, and rewrite.
Next, proof copies are sent to my beta readers.

Beta readers are very different from ARC (advanced review copy) readers.
A beta reader reads the book in its unedited early stages. They share their advice, thoughts, and feelings with the author. They do not write a review based on reading this early version of the book.

Readers who read Advanced Review Copies of a book are reading the final, edited, and polished product, the actual book that will be published. They receive the book for free before publication in exchange for an honest review.

That being said, when I receive all of the thoughts and feelings back from my beta readers, I usually spend a few more weeks editing and revising.

Then the book is done and is ready to be sent to my editor.

Then, you guessed it, I make even more revisions based on the edits I receive from my editor.

THEN the book is finally complete and ready to be published!

But, wait, now I have to send it off to the ebook formatter. It's usually a ten day turn around.

You'd think, that's it, right? Ready to publish?

Nope. First I send the .mobi file to my kindle and read it one last time, checking for any edits and ensuring the formatting is correct.

By this time, I practically have the book memorized! This is why I must be meticulous. At this stage it is very easy to overlook mistakes. I'm much too familiar with the book and sometimes I just don't see blaring errors. However, at this point, all mistakes should have been caught by both beta readers, myself, and, of course, my all important editor. But it's always a good idea to check one last time.

Next it's time to celebrate! The book is ready to be published!!!! Yay!!!

Sit back and relax!

Oh, wait, now I have to market my book.

Sigh.

The  hard work has only just begun.

Wish me luck!

    1. Thanks, Melanie! Sometimes the marketing is the hardest part. In comparison, writing the book is easier. I'm glad the book sounds good to you. Makes me happy! Great to hear from you!

    1. Aw, thank you so much, Megan! This book was a fun one to write. It wasn't what I had planned to write next, and then the story came to me one night and I just had to write it. I'm glad I went with it. Now I'm just crossing my fingers that the first reader, my hubby, likes it!

  3. Well I guess I'll voice my opinion too... Like everyone else I'm wicked excited to read your new book! Looks and sounds fantastic :)
Sounds like quite the process to go through to get your books published. But I'm really glad you go through so many edits. Nothing kills a book faster then simple grammar/spelling or editing errors. So as much as I wish I could have it now, it makes me happy knowing how thorough you are with the editing process.

The whole process feels soooooo slow once the book is done, but it is very necessary.

  4. Sounds great, I can't wait to read it. Sure sounds like a lot of work to get a book published.

I just finished For Nick the other night. It was fabulous, I loved it. I laughed and cried and got really angry at times. My husband asked me why I was crying. I told him it was the book I was reading it made me cry. I told him he should read it after I was finished. He stared at me and said yeah sure I'll read a romance novel. lol As soon as I was finished reading it I wanted to read it again. You have a wonderful way to bring the characters to life. I feel like I know them.

    1. I saw your wonderful review on Amazon. Thank you so much, Rita! I LOVE it!
My hubby won't read romance novels either! Go figure! But he will read my books for me and give me advice, which is, surprisingly, very helpful. He always hashes out my plots with me and listens to me go on and on and on and on. He's my sounding board. But he believes in me and supports me one hundred percent, which I LOVE!
Thank you for your kind words. So sweet!

    1. Thank you, Charissa. I didn't even attempt to try animoto. I love the modern, professional look of your book trailers. Maybe in the future, I'll branch out and give it a try. But I've finally got movie maker down and it was a huge learning curve!

  7. Very nice! Your ability to write a clean romance that holds a readers attention throughout is excellent. I am glad you go through so many edits, too. It shows how much you love your "babies" and your effort to make the reading experience a pure joy for us. Thanks for all your hard work. I can hardly wait to read it. If you need anything, just let me know. I'll be happy to share the news. :-)
