They need to be that long just to cover every element of the book! I've seen so many that do a really good job of capturing the book, but there is always so much left out. And I always miss it. But, don't get me wrong, I still love seeing a book made into a movie.
I agree. A lot of times you miss so much in the movie. Can't read what they are thinking and scenes are left out. I like to read the book first, then watch the movie for that very reason.
So true, Laura. I think that's a good policy. I noticed on your blog that you read The Martian, then watched the movie. I watched the movie and LOVED it. It's been a while since I've been so engrossed in a movie. But now that I've seen the movie, I don't want to read the book. I much prefer seeing the movie AFTER I've read the book. I don't like to see the movie, then read the book, for some weird reason. It feels spoiled.
This is so true! I wish all books that are made into movies would be like 5 hrs long lol.
