FRIDAY FAVORITES

Friday Favorites include my favorite images on reading or writing!
(taken from Facebook)
 Enjoy!

Hmmm . . . have you ever done this?

I hate to admit that once when I had a friend visiting for the afternoon, I was chomping at the bit to finish a book. When she expressed interest in watching a movie, I put on the movie so she could watch it--while I buried my nose in the book. I was dying to see how it ended.
I cringe whenever I think I about this not-so-shining-moment.
But, hey, we're still friends!

  1. Ha ha. Yes, I can imagine that. Some books take a hold of you and it's hard to cut the cord when your mind is consumed with the ending. I have to be careful not to start any books I think might do that if company is coming.

    1. I'm so glad she forgave me for being so rude! But sometimes a book is calling to me and I can't think of anything else until I finish it. I'll have to remember your rule: do not start a book if company is coming!

  2. I know what you mean. There are many times when my husband is talking to his sister and he asks me if I want to talk to her and I say no I'm busy reading and I have to see what happens next. I am rude. lol

    1. I know exactly how you feel! We bookworms must stick together! I got a taste of my own medicine when my daughter was visiting. We were having family movie night and she joined us, but she didn't watch the movie, she was glued to her Nook instead. Oh well, at least she was in the same room as us! And I can't complain when I do the exact same thing!

  3. LOL Good one! I know I have been guilty at least one of those things and friends always understand. I am sure she has done something similar. When my mom visits, we always laugh at ourselves. We can sit beside each other on the couch and not say a word a very long time. Now that I've written this, I think I will start timing us when she comes down and see how long we go. I wonder if she can tell, sometimes, when I say yeah, that I really didn't hear what she said. I know I catch her, but I never say anything. It's like my own private secret that I chuckle at each time it happens. ^-^

    1. I LOVE when two people can be together in the same room enjoying each other's company, but be completely absorbed in a book! It's somehow comforting to know the other is there. I love that you and your mom can do that together.
What's that? Did you just say, "Yeah?"
You're not listening to me, are you???
Aw, go back to your book. (Haha, just kidding.)

  4. People KNOW how much I love reading and I take a book with me everywhere! I don't mean to be standoffish when I'm at a gathering, but I'd rather be reading lol. I read in the car when I'm waiting to pick Kyle or the boys I babysit up from school. We book lovers need understanding folks around us that is for sure!

    1. Yes, we do! I was getting a pedicure once while reading a very funny book and everyone kept giving me weird looks because I kept laughing. But I couldn't put the book down! Fastest pedicure I've ever had! It was over in a flash and I left wondering where the time went. Books make our lives happy and fill our minds when they would otherwise be idle. They sure make the time spent waiting on kids go by much faster! Good for you, Christy!
